Just a few quick notes on our adventures this month now the warmer weather has arrived.
We experienced our first earthquake on Monday the 11th, while having breakfast in a restaurant in Palm Desert. After that little bit of excitement we visited the Living Desert which took us about four hours, we were only expecting it to take a couple of hours, so we got our exercise as well as having fun.
We had a trip down to San Diego visited Miguel's restaurant in the old town. The wine was half price so we ended up with two bottles, good job we had walked in to Old Town. We got a cab back to the Hotel. The next morning we took a cruise on the America, a replica of the original America's Cup winner, to watch for whales. We saw a few spouts of in the distance and a couple of tail waves. Then we got fairly close to one that was just under the water but we were on the other side of the boat so really only saw a lighter shade of blue water. Still we enjoyed the trip, although it was rather cold out on the water.
Last week we headed towards the coast again this time we ended in San Clemente where we had lunch in a surfer restaurant called The Pipe. There we got directions to the pier with enough parking for our truck.
After a walk on the pier and a stop in the bar for a little re-hydration we headed back home to our trailer in Desert Hot Springs.
March 31st
This morning we left Sky Valley in Desert Hot Springs at 8:15am and made our way through part of the Mohave Desert to Bakersfield. We are managed to arrive at our destination just in time for a rainstorm so John got a little wet setting up the trailer. It was 77 degrees F when we left and now it is 62 degrees F so it's a little cooler here. We are staying at the Orange Grove RV Park for two nights before we head to Three Rivers on Tuesday to visit the Kings Canyon National Park.
